Overview
1st Central Asian Leadership Programme on Environment for Sustainable Development 28-30 September, 2010 Target Group The 1st Central Asian Leadership Programme is designed for emerging leaders and promising professionals from government, private sector and civil society across Central Asia. The programme is being piloted for Central Asia for the first time and will be delivered in English. Program Focus The programme is designed to deliver an in-depth appreciation of SD issues with a context of Central Asia. It includes interactive sessions focusing on three dimensions: the human dimension, the environment dimension and the sustainable development dimension. The integration of mind, body and soul is incorporated into contextual and relational aspects of leadership skills, as part of the human dimension. Participants are provided opportunities to acquire new knowledge on environmental management and issues related to sustainable development, particularly aimed at bridging the gaps between government, private sector and the civil society in Central Asia. Special focus will be on climate change, energy efficiency and sustainable energy, as well as emerging technologies such as nanothechnolgy. The Leadership Programme will: · Stimulate all-round thinking and decision making abilities for mid-career and emerging leaders from government, civil society and private enterprises in Central Asia; · Promote the integration of environment and sustainable development issues for effective decision making; · Networking between emerging leaders in Central Asia representing Government, civil society and the private sector Who and Where AIT/UNEP RRC.AP will organize the 3 day Leadership Programme during 28-30 September 2010 in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. The venue of the Leadership Programme is the Nazarbayev University of Astana. A half-day side event will be conducted on 30 September during the side event of MCED-6.
