AIT RRC.AP participated in the Expert Group Meeting on Infrastructure Financing for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific

‚ÄčOn 7-8 March 2019, Qing Xia, Senior Climate Finance Programme Specialist, in the Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific at the Asian Institute of Technology attended the Expert Group Meeting on Infrastructure Financing for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. The expert group meeting addressed how developing countries in Asia and the Pacific can increase the infrastructure investment by highlighting the challenges faced by developing countries in Asia and the Pacific. 24 experts from the public and private sector, and international organizations had contributed to the discussions, of which the outcomes will be formulated into a publication and working papers to be disseminated to UNESCAP member countries. 

Ms. Xia presented the ongoing efforts spent by AIT RRC.AP in building capacity for developing countries to gain access to climate finance, with special focus on the Green Climate Fund, the Adaptation Fund and the Global Environment Facility, which are the three existing operational entities serving the financial mechanism under the Paris Agreement.
