Internship

The Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) at the Asian Institute of Technology is recruiting interns for support in climate change communications, climate finance, and resource mobilization among other activities.

Position Description:

Under the supervision of the Climate Change Cluster team, the intern will carry out activities in close collaboration with other staff within the climate change cluster at RRC.AP, in the following areas:

(1)  Communications Intern

  • Content development: prepare and update communications materials and visual representation of RRC.AP's contributions (reports, brochures, etc.), including drafting content
  • Social media management: update relevant content on FB, Twitter, LinkedIn
  • Web design: manage, improve, and update the Climate Change Cluster website content, in liaison with other team members
  • Engage in and foster internal and external communications
  • Event planning: Support the staff in the organization of events: training programmes, conferences, workshops, webinars, etc.
  • Represent RRC.AP-AIT in conferences, exhibitions, as needed.
  • Knowledge management: Support activities to collect, compile, and manage key internal information (partners, organizations, experts, etc.)
  • Support in scoping for resource mobilization opportunities, and drafting proposals on climate related topics as needed
  • Provide other assistance to the team as needed during the internship period.

(2) Climate Finance Intern

  • Support the development and improvement of methodologies, toolkits, learning materials, proposals, and case studies for strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation for investment in climate change, disaster risk reduction, gender mainstreaming and sustainable development, etc.
  • Research on trends in finance for climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction in Asia Pacific.
  • Support the management of reporting and documentation for projects and activities.
  • Support in scoping for resource mobilization opportunities, and drafting proposals on climate related topics as needed.
  • Provide other assistance to the team as needed during the internship period.

(3) Resource Mobilization Intern

  • Develop a donor intelligence management system and research key donors to RRC.AP, including relevant new developments, products for donor visibility, funding projections and trends.
  • Review and update data on earmarked contributions by key donors to RRC.AP programming, to ensure consistency and accuracy of records.
  • Support in drafting funding proposals on relevant climate related topics as needed.
  • Support the team in uploading documents on internal database of proposals and projects.
  • Provide other assistance to the team as needed during the internship period.

 

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Masters (completed or in progress) in environmental sciences and policy, economics, communications, public relations, international development, or relevant related fields;
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience conducting research in relevant fields or performing communications, report drafting or content development tasks;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in a regional language is preferred but not necessary.
  • Basic understanding of climate change and sustainable development issues, (ideally in Asia and Pacific).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of climate change and sustainable development issues, (ideally in Asia and Pacific);
  • Familiarity with media channels to promote international development, climate change and sustainable development;
  • Multi-tasking, autonomy and ability to work independently, and problem solving skills are highly appreciated;
  • Motivation and drive to promote climate change adaptation & mitigation, and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific;
  • Good interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with experience working or studying in a multicultural environment;

We will aim to identify an internship programme that is suited to your background and interests. We work in a collaborative way and everyone does a bit of everything, so flexibility is highly appreciated (by this we don't mean making coffee or making copies - we are a paperless team anyway).
